Morningsider Wins 1st Place In Japanese Literature Translation Competition!
The Morningside Team would like to congratulate one of our colleagues on a very impressive achievement! Sam Bett, Morningside’s Senior Japanese Project Manager and all-around Japanese-language aficionado, has been awarded First Place in the Japanese Literature Publishing Project’s (JLPP) International Translation Competition.
The JLPP is a division of the Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs that was established in 2002 to broaden the international readership of Japanese literature. Sam is the first American translator to win this prize – quite an accomplishment. As the first place winner, he will be travelling to Japan next week to attend a formal awards ceremony and to partake in a variety of literary events, including a translation symposium featuring the judges of the competition and the authors whose work he translated.

We are very proud of him – congratulations Sam!
