NEW YORK, NY (Feb 17, 2021) — Morningside, the fastest growing major IP and language services provider in North America, is pleased to announce its 2021 corporate charity: Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI), a U.S. non-profit that works to “close the literacy achievement gap between disadvantaged children and their more affluent peers.”
This year, Morningside reached out to clients in its annual client survey to get feedback on which corporate charity to support in 2021. CLI was the clear winner, with nearly one third of the client survey votes (out of a total of 5 choices).
Morningside’s sponsorship will help CLI provide training and learning materials to pre-k through 5th grade teachers in school districts across the United States. “By helping educators learn high-impact instructional strategies and nurturing dynamic professional learning communities, CLI builds lasting capacity in teachers and principals over time,” explains their website.
CLI has also taken steps to address the impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic on students and parents as they transition from in-classroom instruction to at-home instruction. “We are helping to strengthen the connection between teacher online instruction and at-home support by providing caregivers with learning guides full of activities and tips linked to the lesson objective of the teacher’s online instruction,” said CEO Joel Zarrow.
One critical way CLI does that is by maintaining a dynamic selection of learning resources for teachers and families on their web-based learning platform, LEARN (Literacy Education and Resource Network). Parents and educators can view and download lesson plans, checklists, planning templates, and guides on LEARN. There are also complete video demonstrations of lessons and best practices, with in-depth explanations and practical classroom tips to improve literacy instruction.
“The world has changed, but our mission remains the same,” expressed Zarrow. “We are deeply grateful for those who support our work with teachers and children. It matters now more than ever.”
